Interested in Being a Standby Player?
This section (

However, we often have a few musicians who drop out during the set for various reasons. By opting-in to a standby seat, you will join us during rehearsals, and will join us for the concert if another musician has dropped out.
It is likely you would be able to join us, but we cannot guarantee a place in the concert.

Thank you for your interest in M2M’s Winter Set! M2M's second set of the season focuses on themes of authoritarianism, oppression, resistance and uprising. Beethoven's "Eroica" symphony was originally dedicated to Napoleon, until he realized what Napoleon was REALLY all about, and Beethoven famously scratched out the dedication from the score. Sibelius wrote Finlandia to promote Finnish nationalism while they were being ruled by the Russian Empire - because of Russian censorship, the piece was originally performed with various titles (like "Happy Feelings at the awakening of Finnish Spring"...!) that would help it slide past Russian censorship. And Norwegian composer Harald Saeverud wrote his powerful Ballad of Revolt as a protest to the German occupation of Norway during World War II. PROGRAM: SAEVERUD The Ballad of Revolt SIBELIUS Finlandia BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" SCHEDULE CONCERT: Sunday, Feb. 1 1:00pm rehearsal / 3:00pm concert at Herbst Theater REHEARSALS: Thursday evenings (and ONE MONDAY) from 7:30-10:00pm at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Thu.
